Want to Give Your Productivity a Boost? Focus on Wellness!

Overall health and productivity may go hand in hand.

Effective productivity can help you thrive in your work, business, or, quite simply, life in general.  Meanwhile, case studies and observational findings from wellness programs have shown that good health and wellness may support your overall productivity.

Now, this is not to imply that over-emphasis and scrutiny of productivity would be a great idea.  Doing so could lead you to develop unrealistic and unattainable goals, which could lead to a letdown.

However, a good, realistic balance within your productivity targets can help nurture an overall positive sense of well-being.  More specifically, productive flows to your day can help reduce stress, mental fatigue, and overwhelm.

Meanwhile, proactive engagement with health and wellness activities can often keep the mind more focused and creative.  Therefore, the relationship between wellness and productivity is often bi-directional in nature.

You can influence your productivity through a focus on good wellness.

Good wellness also helps with productivity in terms of lifting the mood and sense of motivation.  Furthermore, the mental boosts from wellness-oriented activities may contribute to maintaining a higher level of overall productivity.

Also, a positive state of well-being could lead to higher overall performanceStudies on happiness and productivity have suggested that an improved sense of happiness resulting from healthier productivity practices may also contribute to better relationship patterns.  Furthermore, these stronger relationships could be supportive of reducing various obstacles in professional and personal development paths and, therefore, increase the likelihood of advancement.

There is also a relationship between financial wellness and productivity.

Some wellness routines may help you to get better productivity results.

Good ways to make your productivity and wellness a reality could include the following:

Meditation approaches have been used for centuries to calm the mind and bring about greater mental focus or awareness.  Proponents of meditation attribute reduced emotional strain from life’s daily stressors and boosted happiness resulting from engaging in the practices.  A succinct article in Entrepreneur magazine provides easy ways to incorporate motivation into your daily routine.  (Wellness Tip: Yoga is typically considered a “moving meditation” practice).

Sleep wellness can influence cognition and mental performance.  Sleep deprivation can inadvertently dis-regulate the body.  Furthermore, it may lead to less mental clarity and increased susceptibility to illnesses.  Maintaining good sleep hygiene could be one of your best lines of defense, which will help keep you sharp.

Healthy food and physical activity may be the no-brainers at this point.  The contributions to mental and physical well-being from these factors are immense.  However, integrations of daily movement and healthy meal breaks into daily flows could also be leveraged to enhance overall productivity.

Ergonomics and musculoskeletal considerations may be overlooked.  However, physical strains can distract the mind and make a person not feel as well.  In addition to movement and mobility, it could be as simple as ensuring that a quality office chair with lumbar support is available for daily work that requires sitting.

The list could go on, but in a nutshell, people who feel well physically, emotionally, and mentally tend to perform better than those who are bogged down by feeling less well.  Also, positive mental and emotional wellness may help to overcome any physical limitations one may face.

Effective wellness for optimal productivity doesn’t require being in the best shape of your life and completing extreme physical fitness competitions.  It is much about finding balance to keep consistent integration of wellness activities in the lifestyle.  Doing so can contribute to keeping the mind healthy and an overall perspective positive.
